Anti-Bullying Initiative

The key component of our Peace Program is to teach children and youth to become an active bystander as they are present in more than 80% of bullying incidences. Many times a bystander is unsure of what to do, but when we teach our children to speak up and get help from a trusted adult, we can be sure there will be less bullying. A number of programs encourage this concept as it has been seen as an effective way to break the bullying cycle.  Our program is also unique as it is rooted in the Aboriginal Seven Sacred Teachings which are Humility, Bravery, Respect, Love, Honesty, Wisdom and Truth.  We have also used circles as a way that we talk with one another and this has encouraged mutual sharing and cooperation amongst the students.
